Day 4 Vermont & New Hampshire

Woken up last night at one in the morning by a giant thunder storm. It lasted about two hours, during which Denise and I were both trying to fall back asleep, but worrying about how we will pack up in pouring rain. Which was completely unnecessary, because when we woke up the sun was shining. Both of of were relieved and realized that after a few days we are getting into the rythm of packing up the site, and everything was done quite fast. We set off towards the ferry at Port Kent to cross Lake Champlaign to Burlington, Vermont. We came over the last hill and notice them lift the ramp of the ferry ready to leave, but they were kind enough to wait for us - can you believe it?

In Burlington we had a brunch after some tricky riding to find a diner. We did a short 65km on the interstate (86) and the scenery even there was stunning. We were being followed by dark clouds most of the morning and at around 1pm it caught up with us. We pulled off next to the side of the road to change into rain gear, and 10 minutes later the sun came out again. We had to change back because I was boiling in my suite.

Our attempt at the "Claudio" shot as can be seen in A Long Round...

After driving on wet roads, a night of rain storms and threatening rain all around, we decided to call it quits after 290km in Gorham, New Hampshire and stayed in the safety of a motel.

Now the weather was sunny and hot, and the motel had a pool, so we both took a dip. The hotel has free wireless, is really clean and has a coffee maker - yeah! Our dinner was a luxurious Chinese dinner in downtown Gorham - which was excellent. I had a pig out.
